The Patriot Scholarship
Deadline: October 3, 2016

As part of its commitment to advancing aviation, V1 Management is proud to offer the “Patriot Scholarship” for New England residents who intend to pursue a professional pilot career. V1 Management will award a $2,000 scholarship to an individual pursuing an instrument, commercial, or CFI certificate.

To qualify, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Intend to pursue a professional aviation career
  • Be a fulltime New England* resident and a U.S. Citizen
  • Hold a current Private Pilot Certificate
  • Hold a current Medical Certificate
  • Use the scholarship funds within one year
  • Demonstrate a financial need and scholarship for the award
  • Have a current Biennial Flight Review
  • Take your flight training at a New England facility doing business as a flight school

* Must be a fulltime resident of one of the following states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont

Each Scholarship must include the following information:

  • Two one-page recommendation letters (signed and scanned, with contact information)
  • Copies of pilot’s license / passport or valid driver’s license with photo / medical certificate and
  • the last two pages of your pilot logbook
  • A typed, descriptive 500-word essay that addresses the following:
    • your aviation history and goals
    • what you have done for yourself to achieve your goals
    • where you see yourself in five and 10 years
    • how the scholarship will help you achieve your objective and your present
    • how your previous training was financed, if applicable
    • educational scholarships, awards, and honors
    • where you would obtain the training and the hourly rate for the instructor, aircraft,
    • demonstrated involvement in aviation activities

The recipient will be chosen based on merit, including previous accomplishments, ability to set and achieve goals, involvement in general aviation, and commitment to completing flight training.

All scholarships must be applied for electronically by emailing documents to scholarships@v1management.com. Please submit all materials via email attachments and not in the body of the email. The subject line should read “Application: Patriot Scholarship.” Please submit your application only when you have all of the necessary files ready. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. No exceptions can be made for missing the deadline. Paper applications cannot be accepted.

Scholarship applications must be received by email no later than 11:59 pm on October 3, 2016.

The decision will be announced November 1, 2016 and the award made within five business days thereafter. Funds will be paid directly to a New England facility doing business as a flight school.
